Hi Scootie Wop! How are you?
I’m feeling good, stuck in the house because of all that is going on. Still feeling good though!
When/How did you start/get into making music?
I started making music as a producer almost four years ago now. I got invited to a Boys & Girls Club that had a studio and my friend taught me to make beats. Two years ago I started recording my own music with a rap group when I was originally just the producer. They made me freestyle one day and the rest is history.
What is your greatest inspiration for your music?
To be a voice for those who may be scared to vocalize their feelings and opinions or even life experiences. I am also very inspired by 90’s r&b music because it’s timeless. Music like El Debarge and Boyz II Men are always going to stand the test of time, I want to be in that category.
What is the hardest subject you’ve ever written about?
Definitely has to be heartbreak/breakup music. It is the best music I have written by far, but it has so many emotions behind it. Especially when your exes are fans of your music.
What is the greatest achievement you’ve ever accomplished?
Right now it is over 100k streams on Spotify with no label push as an Independent artist. The real answer though is giving my life to Christ and watching how much the music evolved.
Are you planning on releasing new music soon?
Yes! I recently rebranded under the artist name Scootie Wop and I am going to release a song in May.
What is next for you?
Just going to keep pumping out music and working towards signing a deal to support my family in the future. Also continuing to to grow my clothing brand recently created to spread across the states. I eventually want to be a mentor to younger artist and focus mainly on artist development.
