INTERVIEW: Vattica

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Alexander (lead vocals, guitar): We’ve been hanging in there, thanks! Dark times we’re all in right now, you know?

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Believe”?

Believe is a song that’s even more apropos now than when we wrote it, in my opinion. It’s about wanting to trust in the potential of humanity while at the same time being very concerned about the direction we are headed.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

I wrote the lyrics to the song in 2016 during the rise of Trump. I think that watching so many people support him really undermined my faith in my fellow human beings.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Once quarantine is over we’re definitely going to make a full music video. Right now though we’re making a quarantine version, and everyone is invited to be a part of it! You can get all the details and submit right here: https://smarturl.it/VATbmvs

How was the recording and writing process?

It was awesome! We were so fortunate to be able to record with Ben Grosse and his team at The Mix Room in Burbank, CA. Ben is a legendary producer; he’s worked with Thirty Seconds To Mars, Filter, Breaking Benjamin, Starset, Eminem, Marilyn Mason, just so many fantastic artists. Plus he’s just a sweetheart of a guy.

How has Muse and Imagine Dragons influenced your writing?

I’d say the way we’re influenced by Muse is in the bombastic energy of our live show. As for Imagine Dragons we’re definitely inspired by their anthemic hooks.

What role does LA play in your music?

I think that Los Angeles pushes us to be the best we can be; there’s just so many creative people here and that energy is very contagious, as well as humbling.

Any plans to hit the road?

Well not at the moment, due to the pandemic. I’ve heard experts theorizing that live shows really won’t be a thing again till at least Fall 2021, so we’ll just have to play it by ear. At the moment we’re staying busy by doing livestreams, both on our channels and guesting on others. You can find out more about what we’re doing by following us on instagram @vattica!

What else is happening next in VATTICA’s world?

Trying to survive! Staying safe, practicing social distancing, eating way too many chips.
