INTERVIEW: Aneesa Sheikh

Tell us about yourself?

I don’t know where to begin haha. Let’s see, I am the youngest of five siblings. I grew up training hours a day in competitive figure skating. I have been playing the guitar since I was eight years old and began songwriting at fourteen. Also, my favorite color is pink!

Can you talk to us more about your latest song “Bad Thing”?

I think “Bad Thing” is a great song, its catchy and many people can relate to it despite their age. The song is geared towards a younger teenage audience, who have learned from a relationship and even being in the relationship knowing that it was fun but it wasn’t going to be long-term.

Did any event, in particular, inspire you to write this song?

As a teenager, I observed several of my friends who were in relationships that I knew were not the best for them. I realized that despite anyone telling them it was a “Bad Thing” they had to figure it out themselves to get out of that phase.

What’s your favorite part about the writing and recording process?

That is a hard question for me because each phase of the process has its own unique aspects that I love and others that I dread. The part that is frustrating to me is when I have written a good song and I have to be patient with the rest of the process because I just want it to come to fruition. All in all, I love the entire creative and developmental process.

What else can we expect from you this year?

I have been spending time socially distancing during the pandemic at home writing and cowriting songs for an upcoming single and an EP. I plan to record a new single within the next month, if possible. I also plan to make another music video for my single and go on a radio tour.

How can new fans connect with you?

New fans can connect with me on social media and youtube. My Instagram is @AneesaSheikhOfficial and my youtube channel is “Aneesa”. I am actively sharing my new music content along with everything else going on in my life!
