Originally being purely a solo act, Tom Featherstone has now employed the accompaniment of a backing band since his relocation to Sheffield from London and this slight alteration in performance has led to a very subtle new direction to his core sound. With the additional members of his band featuring the likes of a saxophonist, it introduces new elements of sound and breathes a new life into his music.

This brand new track very much is based on a simple melody/ hook which is themed and repeated throughout the track. There are several soft timbre elements that build the track into a beautifully warm texture, that serenades the listener:

“We really got into this song when recording finding this delicate sound between the guitars and manipulating the voice and sax in production to create these textures that we just fell in love with.”

The song denotes the common and relatable notion of a relationship becoming fractured and the attempts that are made in panic to try and save it from snowballing out of control and ultimately, a certain end:

“As I pushed deeper into what the song was trying to say I found a real relatability and understanding with this idea where sometimes we find ourselves in fractured relationships or situations where, like a damaged boat way out at sea, we’re just left with the fact that we’re taking on water here and there’s nothing to do but accept that. We can panic and try to offload the water, or we can try and ignore it…”
