INTERVIEW: BrownKid

Hi Eduardo, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hey thanks for the opportunity guys. Been great, considering everything’s that going on today. Hoping everyone is staying in good health.

Can you talk to us more about your  single “Sunrise”?

Yes. Sunrise is about new beginnings. Looking for the next day to start over. Second chances. I ‘ve been wanting to write something with a “Beatle” sound but still keeping it to something that sounds like me. I’m a huge John Lennon fan, and Imagine is my one of favorite songs. I wanted the song to have that kind of feel of uplifting hope.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Yes. I started the song when my daughter was born. I knew things would be different hints the lyrics “end of a story another’s begun. Everything is changing, will it ever be done” I didn’t finish the song until three years later when my son was about to be born. I remember thinking. Man, gotta start back at the beginning with bottles and diapers. That’s where the line “circle it back and start from the beginning” came from. Once I had that part, and put it in the song, I knew I had something.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

I do have a video and will be released when the song will be out for pre-sale in June. It was recorded as a family project. It was a lot of fun to make.

How was the recording and writing process?

It was great. Me and my buddy Scott Rollins, who helps me with my music, recorded most of it in a studio in Music Row in Nashville called Jay’s Place. We recorded vocals there. that’s also where we recorded my EP “Rusty Strings“ back in 2013. Scott did the bgv and the background music of the song. Part of the instrumentation was split in recording it between Auburn, AL, where I live, and Nashville, TN. Another friend, Jonas Schultz, helped with the piano you hear in the background.

How has your background as a Latino influence your music?

Well, I think it’s blended in with other styles to give me an sound that people recognize as mine. I’m originally from Lima, Peru. I look up to singers like Eva Ayllón and Sambo Cavero since I’ve listened to them from an early age. Both are Peruvian singers, who have very particular styles. I also like singers like, Bradley Nowell, John Lennon, Bob Marley and many others. I think blending all these styles has given me a sound that’s a bit unique.

How has your time on the road also influenced you as an artist?

Meeting people, getting to know them and seeing how my songs affect them. Watching folks really connect with a song is something that I can’t describe. In reference to this song Sunrise, I’ve had experiences with people telling me what they think it’s about and how they apply it to their lives. I don’t ever correct anyone, I’ve always thought that after an artists releases a song, it’s no longer theirs anyways.

Does the new single mean we can expect new material – how’s that coming along?

Absolutely. I’ve been working on new songs that I’m hoping to get to a studio and record. The current situation has put those plans on hold for a bit, but not forever.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Sunrise will be available for pre-sale on June 5 and out July 3rd so mark you calendars everyone!

Any plans to hit the road?

I had plans go around the Southeast in the Spring and head over to Southern California in the Summer. Those plans had to be canceled because of current events. I have some dates that are tentative for June and I have done a few live-streaming events. All the information, including future dates can be found over eduardosingersongwriter.com
