Interview: LYT

Hello LYT! How are you?

Good, I’ve been staying as healthy and sanitary as possible since this COVID19 pandemic started.

When/How did you start/get into making music?

I loved performing on stage ever since I was a little kid. I grew up watching Bollywood movies with my family and I always copied the way they sang and danced. I think those early years made a big impact on who I am today. I didn’t start writing my own songs until I was like 17/18 and only started taking it seriously around 20 years old when I knew I had to get my shit together and music was the only thing I wanted to do. I honestly think music is the only thing I’m good at, not to brag.

What is your greatest inspiration for your music?

The impact it has on people. I could be feeling some sort of way one day and I’ll listen to a song and It feels like it was written for me because I can relate to it so much in that moment. I feel like songs capture a moment in time and when you get to that moment in your life, that song that you’ve listened to 100 times already will hit you differently than it did before because you’re living that moment.

What is the hardest subject you’ve ever written about?

Any specific situation that I haven’t written about before because I haven’t yet learned how to express my feelings in that type of scenario. But I usually tend to get past that part fast.

What is the greatest achievement you’ve ever accomplished?

Meeting my brothers and starting NuWav with them. NuWav is the name of our label and movement. Those are my brothers forreal. I learn from them and with them everyday. They push me to be my greatest self. Ima get a bag with them one day.

Are you planning on releasing new music soon?

Most definitely. A lot of things in the works right now. I’m still figuring myself out as a person and artist so to me, I have no choice but to keep on making music and putting it out to see the progression. It’s almost like a timeline.

What is next for you?

I’m releasing an album next month with my homie Tonik who’s also part of Nuwav. Most of the beats were produced by him and I made some as well. All of the songs Tonik mixed and mastered. I’m also going to keep on releasing new music and eventually come out with a solo album or EP in the near future.
