Elsten Torres’ “Girl” is music that shimmers with love
Two-time Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Elsten Torres has released “Girl”, a song of magical poetry, sunbeam images and music that shimmers with love. The second song from his forthcoming album At the end of love, it hits home at several levels – musically, lyrically and emotionally. Elsten can be – and the song is – gentle and strong, relaxed and exciting, colorful and gray scale at the same time. It’s so good it almost hugs you.
“Kaleidoscope leaves surrounded her trees/some are brown, some are red/some never change” he sings of the enchanted creature that inhabits the refrain and the video and quickly our hearts. But she is strong and her own person; Autumn never gives in/till winter covers the skin, and the line …she knows exactly what she doesn’t want to reveal flesh her out. The result is a song of love, fascination, joy and respect. “Girl” wraps it all together in a way that allows us to relive young love if we are old, and lose ourselves in new love if we are young.
“Girl” was a joint effort; co-written by Aron Caleb Fishbein, Elsten Torres, and Julian Adam Zimmon, it was produced by Gustavo Menendez with co-producer/arranger Doug Emery. The delightful, mysterious video directed by Claude Wakefield and featuring dancer /actress, Lexi perfectly embodies the delight and mystery of “Girl”.
But this is what you expect from Elsten Torres. He creates music that pushes the boundaries of alternative pop and makes listeners happy in the process. With his many years of successfully composing top ten hits for internationally known artists including a #1 song on the Billboard charts, he instinctively balances the lines of accessible commercial pop with the authenticity and spirit of independent music. Which is how he and his band “Fulano De Tal” helped pioneer the Latin Rock movement in the late 90’s.
In “Girl” Torres is taking the next step forward while never forgetting to use his music for social change in what he calls a “pivotal moment in our human history. Girl, girl, beautiful sunshiny girl/let your love be your destiny he sings in “Girl. Fortunately we know our destiny includes loving his new album with many more songs of magical poetry.
The band Mold! feel like something out of pure fiction. That’s not to say that …
