INTERVIEW: 4th & Orange

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hi! We’ve been so busy, but we can’t complain about that!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “In The LBC”?

“In The LBC” is our first single of 2020, so we’re really happy about that. The day we released the song, we also performed at One Love Cali Reggae Fest in Long Beach. It was perfect having a song that represents the city and being able to perform it for all of its people.

How was the filming process and experience behind the video?

It was a day in the life. We basically did what we do on a daily basis, except in front of a camera. Being from Long Beach we wanted to show a little bit of the city and the lifestyle. Shout out to our director Mike Garcia for indulging in Long Beach culture for the day. Once the edit came back we knew the video was going to be a vibe.

How was the recording and writing process?

We rehearse every day in our recording studio. We set up a songwriting camp for two days and invited a few of our favorite writers – Zach Sorgen and T-Baby. We worked on a beat that DJ Flict (our producer for this song) and Ricardo (our lead guitarist) had put together. Once Flict pushed play and we heard the “Oohhhhh, ahhhh” we knew we had to do it because it was going to be a record paying homage to the city that inspired us the most: Long Beach.

I heard there’s a remix in the process – how did that come about?

We thought it would be cool to get a fellow Long Beach artist as a feature, that was our original idea. “In The LBC” samples The Dove Shack’s “Summertime In The LBC” which Warren G featured on. It was only right to get Warren G on the remix – which is dropping March 20th!

What role does Long Beach play in your music?

Long Beach brought 4th plenty of legendary artists like Sublime among others for us to learn from. In a sense, Long Beach has played a role as a teacher for us. Our city has a specific sound and I think that we’re adding to it in a way that other artists from our city have in the past. Long Beach is the “city by the sea” and when you’re by the sea there’s a certain sound you want to listen to which we try to create with all of our music.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Plenty more to come, very soon so keep your ears open, that’s all we can really say! One thing we do as a band is stay creative so expect a lot more of that.

Any plans to hit the road?

We’ve got a busy 2020 ahead and we’re so grateful! We’re going on tour with Collie Buddz in a couple of weeks, and in May we’ll be touring all over the country with Brazilian reggae group Natiruts. We’re also performing at Reggae Rise Up in St. Petersburg Florida and Vegas. So hopefully we’ll see you guys at some of these shows!

What else is happening next in 4th & Orange’s world?

Above all we want to make sure we are delivering content to our new listeners and fans. We’re on the road a lot this year so we’ll hopefully be making some new fans along the way. With new fans brings a demand of wanting new music and it’s our job to keep feeding them with good sounds! So I guess to answer your question, we have new music, new visuals for our songs, and a ton of new shows. We’re stoked to have you guys on this journey with us!

Also, as a little exclusive for VENTS, we got the word the Warren G remix version of “In The LBC” is coming out on March 20th! Watch the full artwork below!
