Step inside a casino and you’ll find yourself amongst some of the world’s most superstitious people. From wearing lucky pants to sitting with your legs uncrossed, it seems gamblers all have their own ideas about how to keep Lady Luck on side.

Casino myths and superstitions vary from culture to culture. Travel to China, for instance, and you’ll find lots of gamblers kitted out in red. That’s because, over there, red is known as the colour of wealth, happiness and good fortune. Head to Las Vegas and you’ll find gamblers actively avoiding $50 bills. Rumour has it that these bank notes, often known as ‘frogs’, bring bad luck on the Strip.
