I’ve been great, I’m really excited to have You Lose come out considering it is my first single in three years.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “You Lose”?
Simply put, I’m talking about that general feeling of “who are you to break up with me?”. Everyone goes through that egotistical moment where they feel like after everything they’ve done for someone, they don’t deserve to be dumped. In my previous relationship, I knew what I was bringing to the table and therefore, the person taking me for granted and keeping me around, is technically losing.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
The women in my life.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
To be honest, it was kind of difficult to come up with a full video idea for this song given its simplicity. I decided to create an animated video and I don’t know how to draw much so I decided to download a few of my favorite Japanese anime GIFS, 108 different GIFS to be precise. Once I downloaded them I realised I can’t do much with them unless I put them all together. I decided to learn how to use a video editing software and was able to bring my video vision to life.
How was the recording and writing process?
I was all over the place. I laughed, yelled, and cried a little writing and singing this. You can hear in my voice too. Sounds like I just finished arguing with someone.
How did your beat end up in a Lil Wayne & Travis Scott song?
HONESTLY, I have to give all credit to my big brother DrtWrk. Him and I often cook up music together. I had sent him an old piano riff I had made. He did his magic on it and the next thing I know, he facetimes to tell me the track has made it on Lil Wayne’s album. I was on vacation in my homeland, I couldn’t believe it.
With the great reception from your previous work – did you feel any pressure while putting on this song or rather the opposite?
Given I clicked upload from my basement and got a good amount of streams, I am VERY EXCITED to see where we go now that I have an amazing team with me.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
HECK YES. I plan on staying consistent
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
The next one is called Swedish Nights. I’m super excited to share the story behind that song.
Any plans to hit the road?
I have almost perfected my live set. I would love to visit Australia but no plans as of yet.
What else is happening next in Sorena’s world?
ATM all I can think about is music, music and more music. AND I LOVE IT.
