Today, we are pleased to join forces with Zoë Monet for the premiere of her new music video for “Relax.” The visually blends impecable cinematography with great subliminal hunting imageries that fits so well the dreamy vibe of the song itself.
About the song and video, Monet comments
“Writing ‘Relax’ was really an exercise in self-affirmation. I was taking stock of the conflicting forces around me and this pressure to fit myself into an ideal as a means of success. In the song, I’m rejecting that pressure, instead choosing to pursue my own peace even if it means that I would have to sacrifice the convenience of an easy come up.”
“The video, directed, shot and edited by my incredible friends, Kaytlin Martin and Oliver Slider, was meant to represent the aesthetic of that peace, what I envisioned my life to be once I had reached my own success. It’s ethereal, romantic but warm. We shot in places that embodied those things for me. The locations were literally and figuratively illustrating the future that I hoped to obtain through my music, through the hard work that I am resigning myself to in the song.”
