It has been a busy couple of months but I’m glad we are finally seeing the results of hard work and diligence.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Overcome”?
Overcome was inspired by the seasons of change and new beginnings we all go through it’s a story of remaining hopeful in the midst of uncertainty faced by life challenges It captures how we can push through into hopefulness during transitional periods.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
The inspiration came during a trying season of my life. My wife and I were coping with two children under the age of two. Worries surrounding both pregnancies caused us quite a lot of concern and I became increasingly anxious and overwhelmed by it all. Being a father to two baby girls and getting by with merely two – three hours of sleep a day whilst working a full-time job, it was during this seemingly dark period that ‘Overcome’ was birthed.
How was the filming process and experience behind the video?
The video was filmed at a location in the Cotswolds. It was a lot of fun working with Joseph Landreth Smith. This was our first video project and like the theme of the song this was a whole new adventure for me. We hope to film more together in the future.
How was the recording and writing process?
The writing process was all about me finding melodies and words to tell my story. Then the producer, musicians and I, were able to gel together very quickly to bring the vision to life.
What role does London play in your music?
London has been home for the last 17 years. My experiences here also inform my writing. I love the vibrancy and the Cosmopolitan vibes it has to offer us all.
How does your upbringing influence you as an artist?
Being diligent and striving for the best in all aspects of life are a direct result of my Nigerian heritage. I have a strong sense of community and belonging which I hope to make my listeners a part of so they can feel that too
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Yes – definitely. Just in the final stages of getting it ready for everyone to hopefully enjoy.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
The album title is called ‘Seasons’.
