INTERVIEW: Madysyn

Hi Madysyn, welcome to VENTS! Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Girlfriend”?

“Girlfriend” is about having that special someone in your life put in the time, effort, and commitment you deserve! Standing up for yourself in making sure they know your worth and can commit to the relationship.

What made you want to release this song?

I wanted to release this song to empower people going through a similar situation because unfortunately it’s a very relatable topic. I love to see the confidence grow in people and this song is a big anthem for finding your inner self love and expressing it outwardly.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Yes! The video is always one of my favorite parts of the process. It will be coming out very soon.

Having started your career on the Youtube circuit with covers – first of all, was it easy for you to move away from the covers to original material, especially after the big reception you were getting in this realm? Was it easy to somehow “step out of your comfort zone”?

Starting my career on YouTube was a nice way of finding who I am as an artist. I would sing and post covers of songs I relate to or that I loved the vibe of and it led to me figuring out what my kind of music is. It was fairly easy and natural moving from covers to original music because I started becoming more myself and I think my listeners picked up on that as well.

Do you tend to take a different approach when you are covering someone else rather than working on your own original material?

When it comes to covers I always try to break down the lyrics and figure out how I can relate to it. I found doing that made the cover more myself and others really believed it when listening. And then of course making it my own whether it’s with phrasing, music, structure, etc. I always try to make it more me.

Who are your greatest musical influences?

My greatest musical influences are without a doubt John Mayer, Tori Kelly, and Chris Stapleton. That might sound like an odd bunch to put together but they each have their own thing that just amazes me with every song. I really love watching and learning from their live performances as well. They are fantastic singers, musicians, and writers.

How did your experience on The Pop Game influence your artistry?

The Pop Game showed me that I don’t exactly want to do pop. I love genuine instruments and genuine vocals which is why I’m drawn toward Country pop and Acoustic pop. It also brought me out of my comfort zone, which was a big step for me. Overall, it was a blessing and helped me find myself in my artist journey.

Does the new single mean we can expect new music from you? If so, how’s that coming along?

Absolutely! This is my dream and what I adore doing. Writing is a big passion of mine so I’m definitely releasing more originals. I got some stuff I’m dying to share so stick around and expect more tunes soon!

Any plans to hit the road?

Going on tour is a huge goal of mine, and it will for sure be coming up sometime in the future.

What else is happening next in Madysyn Rose’s world?

I’m currently moving to Nashville which is super exciting! I can hardly wait. I’d say just stick around for more upcoming music and updates. I appreciate the love and support so thank you!
