With social media encouraging people to travel and post exciting pictures of them living their best lives, we see more and more people heading to other countries to explore the land. You’re most likely feeling like you need to top your old friend from high school’s last travel post and head overseas as well.

Traveling overseas is a must that everyone should take the opportunity to do when handed to them. However, what you might not know is that there are plenty of wonderful and just as stunning places to visit right here in the United States.

There are mountain adventures in the U.S. waiting around every turn, meaning you don’t have to book that expensive flight to be in awe by nature. Here are several of the best mountain adventures that you can have right here in the United States!

  1. Colorado Springs, Colorado

Colorado Springs, Colorado is home to the gorgeous Rocky Mountains, but that’s not all. You’ll also find yourself intrigued by the red rocks at Garden of the Gods and the amazing views at the Royal Gorge. The amazing thing about all of this?

It’s yours to explore! There are guided tours that you can sign up for, but traveling up the mountains at your own pace solo is also acceptable. You can even drive up to Pike’s Peak in your own vehicle and be amazed by the views at the highest summit of the southern Front Range of the Rocky Mountains!

  1. Sedona, Arizona

If you can’t get enough of the red rocks in Colorado at Garden of the Gods, travel over to Sedona, Arizona and catch a glimpse of the famous Sedona red rock mountains. The red rocks here are massive and can be seen from just about anywhere in town.

The best way to explore them is by foot so be sure to come prepared with hiking shoes! While in town, consider planning a nearby trip to the Grand Canyon. It’s not a mountain, but it’s a nice bonus to add to this mountain trip!

  1. Anchorage, Alaska

When traveling during the summer, you’ll want to make a stop in Anchorage, Alaska. During the summer, you’ll have full days of sunlight. This is optimal for mountain exploration as you won’t have to worry about getting stuck in the mountains after dark.

Hike across the ice and participate in a wildlife tour to get the full experience. You might even stumble across some stunning cabins that make you want to start building your wooden project at home! Global Wood Source is an excellent starting place to do just that!

  1. Gatlinburg, Tennessee

When traveling to the east coast of the states, make another stop in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Here, you’ll enjoy views of the Great Smokey Mountains. You’ll also love exploring them.

Consider signing up for a horseback riding tour through the mountains where you can enjoy the fresh mountain air while riding a horse! You can also follow a guided hiking tour that’ll introduce you to several waterfalls throughout the mountains.
