Brooklyn based contemporary folk band, Cardboard Rocketship, has released an inspirational and reflective story in “Bittersweet.”
“Bittersweet” creates a state in mind in which you’re overcome with emotion, knowing you need to keep this moment in your memory for years to come. However, you’re too in your mind to truly enjoy the moment in the first place. Beginning as a tale of reflection, “Bittersweet” concludes in a place of defiant encouragement through lyrics of “What if this song is the best I can do// Woke up tomorrow and I couldn’t carry a tune// It leaves a bitter taste// But it’s a sweet song so I won’t complain.”
Cardboard Rocketship is a Brooklyn-based contemporary folk group comprised of Will Davis, Vincent Cinque, Roxanne Quilty, and Tallie Gabriel. Beginning in 2018 with former NYU theater majors, Will and Vincent, the two began collaborating with Roxanne and Tallie through chance and mutual admiration. Drawing inspiration from The Avett Brothers, The Head and the Heart, Fleetwood Mac, and countless others that have come before them, they bring an earnest emotionality, introspection, heart, and optimism to their music and storytelling.
