PREMIERE: Apollo Bebop Release “The Recipe”

Apollo Bebop is a Hip Hop / Jazz quintet from Santa Ana, CA, aiming to revitalize the music industry with their live energy and genre blending aesthetic. Influenced by the likes of John Coltrane and A Tribe Called Quest, Apollo Bebop redefine hip hop through their energy, rawness and authenticity. They’ve played shows throughout LA and Orange County, and won the latter’s weekly ‘Best New Band’ status through gaining a substantial following in the area.

The band’s emcee, Brian, grew up in a suburban area with sparse interest and little opportunity within the arts. Having met a friend through school who was a rapper, Brian ditched his interest in running and athletics to pursue music. The band’s saxophonist, DeAndre Grover, had a different mentality throughout his studies and began playing in 6th grade before going on to study music at both Cal Baptist University and Fullerton college. With the pair meeting through the internet, they are just two cogs in the urban-machine which is Apollo Bebop.

Apollo Bebop discuss the track:

“The Recipe is a challenge. An invitation to try and copy our style and do it as well as we do. We are confident that we stand out and are not threatened by copycats.”
