Hey Guys! You are out on The Spectra tour right now and from the looks of it you appear to be having a great time. Is this your first tour?
Red: Hey! We’re having an absolute blast. This is our first tour and we’re loving it so far. It’s great to get the chance to share our EP, releases, and some of our favorite tunes with everyone. What’s been even more incredible is the chance to meet fans – old and new – after the shows.
How did you decide where you would be playing – like choosing which cities?
Rome: We planned the tour pretty far in advance as we wanted to follow up on the December EP release. We work with a team based out of LA (BSquared Mgmt) that helps us with booking and show promotion as well! It was a cooperative thing but we were lucky to have a team on our side. They’ve been absolutely incredible and have helped us get shows in cities we’ve always dreamed of playing in.
Have you had any musical inspiration since you started on the tour? Do you all write new material while out on the road? How does that work for you?
Red: Definitely! We always try to stay inspired no matter what because you never know when an idea will come. I know there are times I’ll catch Rome singing a melody or some lines into his voice memos to save an idea for later, I do the same. The hard part is remembering to go back and turn the ideas into full songs!
Do you ever make mistakes when performing? How do you handle that?
Rome: Without a doubt. Sometimes it’s technical issues or sometimes it’s us actually making little mistakes but things go south sometimes and that’s okay. In a perfect world, our set goes exactly the way we want every time but in reality, there are going to be hiccups. The biggest thing is keeping in the zone when something happens. It’s kind of a fun challenge to overcome issues and still keep the vibe going, it’s part of the skill of performing. With that said, so far things have been pretty smooth for us – hopefully we don’t jinx that!
What is one song that you play every night no matter what?
Red: The first release from our EP, ‘Lonely’. We definitely mix up the set list for each show but that’s always one that we have in there. It’s so fun to play and we also put together an orchestral sort of intro for it so we really get to pour ourselves into that one.
What is on your agenda or what can fans expect to see from you in 2020?
Rome: Once we wrap up the tour we’re going to be back into music releasing mode, so that’s a big thing to stay tuned for. In fact, we’re set to release a track next month and follow that up with some more goodies this Spring. A lot of big things in the plan for 2020.
Tell us some dates you have coming up where fans can come and watch the amazing show!
Red: Sure thing! Our next show is early February in Boston, then we’re heading out to do two back to back shows in Grand Rapids then coming back east for our second show in NYC! We can’t wait to get back on stage and hope to see you out there! Tickets and info for all of our shows can be found on our Songkick, which is always updating (http://bit.ly/thekeymakerslive).
