Inside the Rooms of the Celebrities

Panoramic views, oversized art pieces, antiques and open-plan bedrooms… all par for the course, it seems, when it comes to celebrity bedrooms. They go all-out for comfort and will splash out on the room and on elegant bedding. Let’s be honest: we’d get a piece of that action ourselves if we had the money (or maybe you have already!).

This post discusses the bedrooms of some of the world’s biggest stars and how they make them comfortable celeb-style. Strap yourself in and try not to get too jealous!

Patrick Stewart

It might cut a long story short to say, ‘It’s Patrick Stewart — anything he does is cool!’, but that just won’t do. ‘Captain Jean Luc Picard’, as many ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ fans better know him, certainly didn’t need any guidance from Captain Kirk when he put his bedroom together.

The master bedroom of this $2.5 million home is simple and minimalist in its appearance. The bed is standard looking, in keeping with this design style, and you think to yourself: ‘He’s gone for understated’. Then doesn’t he just go and have a door that allows him to walk straight out onto the roof deck!  The luxury has just gone up a serious notch!

Geri Halliwell

Once she’d have been singing at us to spice up our lives with the Spice Girls. Then she had enough of all that and has since shown fans around her bedroom instead. The wallpaper is a little unusual, to say the least — dark green with splashes of pink and lighter green — but that’s partly why we love her.

The bed itself is large, possibly king-sized, and the ex-Ginger Spice has gone for an upholstered headboard (nice!). Some simple plain white bedding offsets the bed; and a brown throw and matching cushion offsets the white again. Don’t you just love her!

Matthew Perry

In ‘Friends’ Matthew Perry might have been the slightly goofy and socially awkward Chandler Bing, but his bedroom is one of a person who’s far from that in real life. The TV star went full-on celeb when he bought a penthouse in Los Angeles for 15 million big ones. His bedroom boasts a gorgeous panoramic view at which you could marvel all day and be happy to cancel your Netflix subscription.

Decorating and furnishing the bedroom was never going to be a difficult task with a view like that to steal the show. Matthew has gone for a light colour scheme. The bed is a lush-looking white, with a light-grey bedside rug and cushions acting as accents. The wooden floor throughout the room completes the elegant colour scheme.

Cameron Diaz

Cameron Diaz may have had men swooning over her in ‘There’s Something About Mary’, but it might well be interior designers and ‘There’s Something About Cameron’ when they see her bedroom. The good-looking actress has pulled out all the stops and her bedroom is a testament to the awesome force of mixing and matching tones and textures.

Silk lines the drawers, hammer metal layers the doors and gilded paper even lines the ceiling. It’s California glam at its glammest. The master bed mattress is firm and inviting, the headboard is ruched and the silk linen covering the bed sets her up for an ultra-comfortable sleep. Lucky her!

Jennifer Lopez

Now, it just wouldn’t be a celebrity homes without some kind of J-Lo inclusion in it. These are just the rules, folks, but in all honesty, the rooms in her dwelling place are just gorgeous. The Latina pop princess has a four-room duplex penthouse in New York and she’s not afraid to furnish it!

If ever you’re lucky enough to step into this plush home, you’ll encounter a luxurious suite that looks out onto a private garden from a sumptuous four poster bed, with a mattress into which you could sink ever so easily and quite happily sleep a hundred years while you rest your head on soft, thick pillows. The colour scheme is neutral, with classic white for the bedding and accents of beige courtesy of the chaise longue and the cushions.

Lindsey Buckingham

The Fleetwood Mac singer might have sung about going your own way and has actually done so in the past when it came to his band, but if you’re into bedroom design, his way could also be one to follow. The musician owns a luxurious six-bedroomed property and you might only want to leave his master suite to use the home’s swimming pool or sit out in the garden, onto which the suite looks! If even that’s too much hassle, you’d always be able to just sit out on the bedroom’s private balcony.

The bed is king-size and has a rather large but luxurious headboard, with brown and cream cushions breaking up the pillows and white sheets. It sure is a cosy bed, but whenever there’s a need for any extra warmth Lindsey can just call into action the fireplace he has in the room! There’s also a chaise longue and two armchairs if you don’t feel like relaxing on the bed. Jealous? Hell yeah!

Cindy Crawford

When it comes to interior design, Cindy Crawford’s bedroom shows that she can walk the walk. The American model and actress has always had an interest in interior design and has her own line of furniture. Where better to unleash those passions than on her own bedroom, which she does to masterful effect.

The master suite has a bathroom and a powder room (very posh!) and two large art pieces create inflection in the room, which has a neutral colour scheme. Bed-wise, Cindy has gone king size with white bedding and, to break things up, cushions in shiny and darker tones of grey. A large patio-style window lets in plenty of light and two armchairs look out onto the garden.

Natalie Portman

When it comes to views, Natalie Portman isn’t going to let Matthew Perry outdo her if she can help it! The ‘Black Swan’ star drinks in an enviable view of the Pacific Ocean from the master bedroom of her home. The view isn’t panoramic, but who cares about that when you can step through the sliding doors of the room and out onto the terrace. In yer face, Perry!

Regarding her bed itself, Natalie has laid off the cushions and throws and treated herself to a thick, inviting mattress and some straightforward white sheets and pillows. That makes sense when you have an en-suite bathroom, with a wet room and free-standing bathtub, and just want to slip in between the sheets without having to clear any clutter. It’s a hard life!

These really are fabulous bedrooms with some equally comfortable bedding. If you want to feel like a celeb, you can browse the Bedstar site and treat yourself to some gorgeous mattresses and other bedware. It’s not only celebs who can have all the comfort!
