Hi Brando, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Things have been great, thanks for having me!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Look Into My Eyes”?
“Look Into My Eyes” is my first ever solo release and I think it really embodies the direction I’m going in with my music. It’s also my first solo release with Armada, and it’s been great getting to work with them on it.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Nothing in particular, I think the lyrical direction of the song really just came about from me thinking about a lot of my friends in the music business that tour a lot and have girlfriends back at home worrying about them.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
The video is actually out now on Armada’s YouTube channel!
How was the recording and writing process?
The song actually came together relatively quick. My producer Avedon had the idea of flipping old 90s records, and the original track for “Look Into My Eyes” was one of the first ones we played and instantly gravitated to it’s hook. We then made a new track with co-producers Camden and Shndo, then rewrote the verses to what they are now.
What role did the 90s play on this record?
It actually played a significant role, because the whole premise of us making this track was to flip a 90s record into a modern record, and I think it worked out quite well.
Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else rather than working on your own?
It’s generally the same approach, but working with other people is always great because you can flush out so many ideas just bouncing off each other creatively.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Yeah I’ve been working on plenty of material to release this year, both collaborations and solo records so stay tuned for more.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Not at the moment!
Any plans to hit the road?
Yeah I’m definitely planning on doing a lot more shows this year than last year.
What else is happening next in Brando’s world?
Honestly, I’m just focusing on putting out as much music as I can and growing my solo career.
