Travis Crown Encourages LGBTQ+ Youth To “Keep On”

Travis Crown, a 20 year-old pop artist who not only took a chance on himself, but gives back to the community that helped him survive and gave him a safe harbor while he was alone on the opposite side of the country.

Travis’ new song, “Keep On” serves as an ode to the LGBTQ+ youth that find themselves in difficult situations and facing the feeling of seclusion and loneliness. Being raised in an extremely conservative and religious family in Connecticut, Travis was put through conversion therapy by his own mother and then kicked out of his home after his mother found Travis’ YouTube channel in which he created makeup tutorials. Using his savings, Travis flew to LA, where he did not know a single soul but knew he could be free. Walking the streets aimlessly, Travis found himself homeless and starving. Upon finding a youth hostel, he waited days for a bed and the ability to put himself back on his feet.

This past June, Travis had the opportunity, thanks to Now This, to share his story on a larger scale:

“Keep On” was written while Travis was sleeping on the streets of Los Angeles. Even in the most difficult times, Travis knew that music and his community where the only aspects of his life that he knew he could fall on and would be with him through his life. Travis’ optimism and spirited soul knew that him being homeless was a temporary situation and knew it would get better, it had to get better. “Keep On” serves as a hope to those that find themselves in impossible situations and provides a spark of hope and determination to push through.
