Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Moonshine”?
A – It’s a real feel good tune with tropical dance beats and melodies throughout and it’s about Dutch courage really and sort of needing that inner confidence to kick in for you to be able to let your heart do the talking.
Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?
A – There wasn’t a specific event in particular to inspirer this one but am sure most people would have experienced this themselves or witnessed something similar so hopefully it’s relatable to the listener.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
A – No plans yet but hopefully we have some time and enough funds soon to try make one happen. We’ve got plenty ideas for music videos and we’d like to do more.
How was the recording and writing process?
A – Long! Haha we spent a lot of time working on this song both in and out the studio trying to capture the sound we were striving for and we’re all delighted with the way it’s turned out and the response has been incredible so it feels like we really earned it with this one.
What role does West Lothian play in your music?
A – It’s just great that the world is starting to hear the talent coming from West Lothian and long may it continue.
How has Klaxons and Foals influenced your writing?
A – I’d say Foals have influenced our sound a bit especially with their feel good dance synth sounds and just that raw energy they give off within their songs. Not a bad band to take inspiration from at all. As for the Klaxons, a think someone just compared us to them once before and that’s cool, they’re a great band but personally I can’t hear that comparison.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
A – Definitely! We’re always working on new material and we’ve spent some time in the studio recently too so plenty more to come.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
A – Not anything concrete yet but expect new music very very soon!
Any plans to hit the road?
A – We’ll be hitting the road early 2020 with a few dates to be announced soon also so lots happening over the next few months.
What else is happening next in Mark Sharp & The Bicycle Thieves’ world?
A – We’ve just sold out our biggest headline show to date at st lukes in Glasgow on the 28th of December this year so just currently working harder than even behind the scenes to make it an unforgettable night for the people that have spent their hard earned cash to come along and see us which we are forever grateful for and we all cant wait to put on a proper show for them!
