Kicking of the new year with Friends, the track is a love-and-loss track written about long-term breakups. Fi-Zi grew up in a suburban area of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, having graduated from the ‘Victoria Institution’. Without musical experience, Fi-Zi decided to enroll himself in music classes after singing around the house from an early age. Eventually picking up the piano and guitar, as well as some theory that stood him in good stead going forward.
Fi-Zi expands on the track:
“’Friends’ is a sad love song with lo-fi elements and mixed with pop. This song is about a guy who just broke up with his girlfriend after 6 years of relationship. He found out that his ex was with someone else and she kept calling him every night to ask for forgiveness. She begged him that she doesn’t want to lose him and asked him to start over so that they could be friends.”
