What is the NZETA or eTA New Zealand?

The electronic visa waiver that was launched in August 2019 is known as the eTA for New Zealand or NZETA. This is actually the New Zealand Electronic Authority. This authority allows the eligible travellers to travel to the country by easily obtaining their NZeTA.

To visit New Zealand, it has made obligatory for the all cruise travellers and citizens of all 60 visa waiver countries to have a valid electronic NZETA for New Zealand. This rule was issued on October 1st, 2019. Not only these, but the cruise line crew and even all airline also need to hold a Crew eTA before they travel to New Zealand. By completing a simple online application form, the citizens from eTA New Zealand eligible countries can obtain an eTA for New Zealand.

Not much effort is required as obtaining NZeTA is a matter of time. You don’t have to travel all the way to the Embassy or need to the consulate. All you require is to fill the eTA New Zealand online application form. Hardly a few minutes are needed to fill this form. Most of the applications are processed in as little as one business day. But sometimes more than 72 business hours are required for some applications to be processed. Your eTA New Zealand (NZeTA) will be sent to the applicant electronically as once it is approved.

Validation of the NZeTA

After approval, this New Zealand eTA can be used for multiple visits. This NZeTA is valid for two years. To obtain the NZeTA, there is a small processing fee that is must pay for every applicant. Applicants are also required to pay the International Visitor Conservation, tourist tax, and Tourism Levy (IVL). This IVL was introduced so that travellers can contribute directly to the tourism infrastructure of the country. It also helps in protecting the natural environment the tourists enjoy during their stay in New Zealand.

An answer of series is given in the application form. Every application should fill the form correctly. Some personal information like their full name, passport details, address, date of birth, and travel plans are also asked in the form. Some sections that are related to health and security are also given in the New Zealand eTA form.

Who needs to apply eta for New-Zealand?

The new list of the countries who will be allowed the New Zealand E visa is not issued by the government yet. This list of the New Zealand Electronic Travel Authorization eligible countries will be out in a month or two. As for the new list, the countries like Canada, Hong Kong (SAR PRC), Singapore, Republic of South Korea, Brunei (Darussalam), Malaysia, United States, Japan are said to be eligible for the New Zealand visa Eta (NZeTA).

Things to note

  1. You must hold an NZeTA before you travel if you are from a visa waiver country.

  2. It takes less than 10 minutes to allow up for NZeTA but sometimes up to 72 hours for processing

  3. On the free app, an NZeTA request costs NZD $9 or if done online costs up to NZD $12

  4. You can check its status anytime once you are done requested an NZeTA
