KYLE: Really good thanks. Busy! But busy is good. Things are starting to come together now.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Mind Trip”?
DEAN: Mind Trip is an amalgamation of all our previous work, sealed with a kick to the face!
MARTYN: This track really defines us as a band. It has that bouncy riff that gets you moving, but also the powerful vocals that grab you.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
KYLE: Mind trip takes something negative and turns it into something that you can dance and shout to. Pleasure seeking, self-delusion and horrible consequences are brought forward in this song.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
KYLE: Yes! The video release will coincide with the release of our EP ‘House of Thieves’ on 28TH February 2020.
DEAN: You’re gonna love it!
The single comes off your new album House of Thieves – what’s the story behind the title?
Kyle: its named after one of the songs, we think it suits as the title perfectly.. the songs about meeting a man that intends to influence your thoughts, so that you will join him in his house of thieves. This is a place where people have turned sour and are plotting against the society they have fallen from
How was the recording and writing process?
DEAN: It was great, we spent a lot of time at Kyle’s, just blasting ideas out with a beer and it all just fell into place.
KYLE: The recording was easy. We’ve been there before, they’re great guys and they get us and what we’re doing.
How has Green Day and The Sex Pistols influenced your writing?
KYLE: Our journey reflects that of Green Day, in that they began with very simple, catchy tunes, evolving into more complex, story telling ballads. Obviously, The Sex Pistols are very basic in terms of old school Brit-Punk, you know what you get with them, and that’s the case with us!
MARTYN: We like to think our songs take you on a journey and you can relate to them in some way in your own life.
Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?
Kyle: really it comes pretty natural, I just bring song ideas to the band and if we like it I just put some poetry over the top of it and voilà.. it’s a Outlines song
Any plans to hit the road?
MARTYN: We’re looking at hitting the road around spring time, after the release of the EP.
DEAN: Yeah, from February onwards. Details will be up on our site soon, www.theoutlines.co.uk
What else is happening next in The Outlines’ world?
KYLE: We’re taking one step at a time, but we will carry on getting our name out there. The EP release is the next big thing, 28th February 2020. You can pre-order now from our website – www.theoutlines.co.uk
