The time has come. In just a few months we would be witnessed of the so-long waited new entry into the James Bond saga, and the last run for Daniel Craig. Right of the get-go, this new movie shows so new turns and twists that only time will tell if they were worth it or not.
Starting up, the film is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, whose only closest link with Europe as a whole comes from her Swedish descendant mother. This would be the first time a film on the franchise would be directed by an American director. This comes on the heels of Danny Boyle departing the project for “creative differences.”
Females are also taking the series by storm. For instance, Lashana Lynch of Captain Marvel, is taking on the iconic code 007. This brought some controversy, that again, only time will tell if this was a great risk to take or not. What certainly would help this is having Fleabag/Killing Eve’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge to inject some of her own humor but also take to the spy genre, as she and her team did so phenomenally well on the Sandra Oh/Jodie Comer’s starrer. This would be only the second time a female has taken on the writing duties.
Last but not least, its just something that personally I find so funny. And that’s how Daniel Craig’s first appearance as the iconic MI6 agent was almost a reinvention of the character, and now, for his supposedly definitive final outing, we get a new film that seems to once again try to reinvent the wheel. Of course by now, the setting somewhat has changed as well as the characters. But who knows, we may have some glimpse of Casino Royale of some character playing some online casino games… after all it’s 2020 already and it is legit or maybe that’s a stretch?
Either way, after so a very uneven year for Bond, we may finally wrapped this revival of sort with a bang. What are you thoughts? Let us know in the comments below!
