Where are you from?
Born in New York City & Raised in Central New Jersey.
What exactly do you do for a career?
Social Media Marketing for small to large size businesses, specifically through Instagram.
What was the process for you to find what you wanted to do?
I mistakenly got into social media marketing through a failed project of mine. Tried to start up an iphone app when I was 15 years old and in the process of attempting to market the app and populate it with users I took to instagram. I built up a solid fan base and once I realized the app was not working out I just rebranded the app “Bangerbuddy” into a college lifestyle brand with a large social media audience.
What are some of the challenges you faced along the way?
A lot of criticism and doubt in the early stages. When I was first starting out my instagram business, very few people were making money from social media. The instagram “influencer” was not mainstream whatsoever yet and they barely even existed. Now keeping that in mind, try explaining to someone years ago that you were dropping out of college to pursue an instagram page full time. They would look at you like you are absolutely crazy. No one in my life believed it was a viable business to purse, until it quickly became a multi billion dollar industry. Now all of a sudden it makes perfect sense to everyone.
What is your greatest success so far?
Bangerbuddy is my greatest success thus far. Bangerbuddy has acquired over 5 Million active fans across social media and has been seen by over 100M+ people on social media. Away from social media, we are also selling out live events across the United States with no major talent booked for our events, just a Bangerbuddy branded party. Bangerbuddy LLC is currently generating over $1M a year in revenue.
What does it take to be a successful entrepreneur?
It takes a lot of patience and determination. You have to push through the failures and succeed as much as you can. Lack of start up money should never be an excuse for any entrepreneur in this day and age. There are so many things you can start building on for absolutely no start up cost. It doesn’t cost you any money to create a profile on instagram. Although having money to invest does accelerate things, there is a plethora of marketing strategies on social media which require no funding.
What is some advice you would give to a young entrepreneur?
Never give up and don’t let anyone bring you down. To a normal person that works a monotonous 9-5 job, anything besides doing that seems like an impossible day dream to them. They will doubt and ridicule you for trying to break free from that cycle, until you do. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it. You need to find that next big thing, learn everything about it early on, and dive into it full force.
