Hi Indi, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Really great.Thank you for asking! I hope you and all your readers are doing great as well!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Just Might Dance”?

I am so excited for my first solo single release – Just Might Dance. It was co-written and produced by Jenga Productions who I have been working with for the past 5 years or so. This was our first solo original project together and we are so happy how it turned out!

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Everyone has felt or has a friend or knows someone that thinks that they aren’t good enough for themselves, other people or the world. Just Might Dance is an inspiration song to help kids recognize that they are perfect just the way they are and that they are good enough!

Any plans to release a video for the single?

My music video “Just Might Dance” is actually up on my YouTube channel right now! You can find it by just searching for Indi Star in Youtube.

How was the recording and writing process?

I loved creating, writing and recording the song! It was an amazing experience. I just love my songwriting and production partners, Nicci and Shayon, at Jenga Productions. We have been working together for about 5 years and when you really know your people, it makes the creative process so much more fun and productive.

What role does Los Angeles play in your music?

Los Angeles is really such a great city. It draws so many creative and talented people. I think just being in the city and feeling the energy of all those people who have lived and worked and created in the city is just a great vibe.

How does your background as a performer influence your music as a whole and the other way around?

I would say that being a professional dancer has helped a lot in expressing my emotions better through my singing.  As a dancer, we are taught to fill and use the stage and that has helped with my vocals as well. To take that idea of filling the stage is important for not just singing but performing as well. Writing song lyrics has helped me express those words into acting.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

I have already recorded an original duet with a friend and a former Kidz Bop member Shane Davis. The title of it is “Quick Change.” I’m also working on more new original solo music.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Quick Change will be released early 2020 – some time in January February but no set date yet.

Any plans to hit the road?

I don’t have any dates set at this time. I’m really focused on just getting some original music released right now.

What else is happening next in Indi Star’s world?

I’m also an actress so I’m getting ready for pilot season starting in January! Also I just finished working with Mattel Creatable World and will be working with them again in the future!
