TAYLOR JANZEN SHARES VIDEO FOR ‘WHAT I DO’

19-year-old Winnipeg singer songwriter and genre-bending recording artist Taylor Janzen today reveals the official music video for new single ‘What I Do’, available on all digital and streaming platforms via Glassnote Records.

Matching the aesthetic of the video, ‘What I Do’ sees a big shift from Taylor’s usual guitar-led material and so for the visual she decided to conflate how one artist can explore many different forms of music, with how she feels that high school ‘cliches’ are outdated.

On the video, Taylor says: “What I Do…” is a song I wrote about being in a serious relationship and suddenly realizing that your issues are affecting someone else for the first time, and not entirely knowing how to change that. Musically, it’s a bit of a departure from my previous songs, so for the music video we decided to show how one artist can explore many different forms as that’s always something that should be celebrated. Asking someone to define their genre is like asking someone what their high school clique was, entirely outdated and a little dumb. So that’s exactly what we decided to show in the video.”

Already winning fans at Radio 1 with its unexpected pop twist, ‘What I Do’ was mixed by Neal Avron (Brandi Carlile, Bleachers, Twenty One Pilots) and mastered by Joe LaPorta (David Bowie, Of Monsters & Men, Leon Bridges) – candidly bringing to life Taylor’s fight to separate personal obstacles and serious relationships.
