INTERVIEW: Singer-Songwriter Georgie

Hi Georgie, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hi and thank you for having me! I’ve been great! I’m currently adjusting to the busyness of London life which makes a huge change to the little village I was raised in. I’m really enjoying the change of scene and the new opportunities here!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Magnum”?

It is my first ever single so that’s very exciting! In short it’s about moments where we don’t trust our own judgement. It is written from the perspective of a relationship, however I love how the lyric “I don’t trust myself” means something different to everyone that hears it, and how it could be applied to so many different situations.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Not any personal event of mine in particular; it is more written through the perspective of others. When writing the song I found myself imagining what it would be like to be in other people’s shoes, how I would be feeling, and what would be running through my mind.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

There are currently no plans to release a music video for the single, however we will be releasing a short lyric video!

How was the recording and writing process?

It was super chilled and enjoyable. I worked alongside my brother Jack and our friend Jordi, so having the three of us meant we could bounce ideas of each other and really have fun with the writing process. I arrived to hear a drum beat they had created, we chatted about our vision for the song, grabbed a coffee and got to work!

We set up camp in Jack’s lounge and that was it, within a few hours we had written and recorded everything, capturing the essence of the song right there in that room, on that day.

What role does Fulham play in your music?

In Fulham I am constantly surrounded by other creatives, so this inspires me to try out new ideas and push myself to work hard to  create something that I love, and that other people will love too.

How has Billie Eilish and Tom Misch influenced your writing?

Tom Misch makes me want to incorporate the jazzy feel and funky grooves of his music into mine. Listening to his music puts you in a good mood no matter how you were feeling when you started listening. I would love for my music to have this effect on people.

Billie Eilish makes me want to write honest songs that are both ethereal and intense; songs that make people feel.

Does the new single mean we can expect any new material – how’s that coming along?

Definitely at some point in the future! Music and singing have always been and will always be a love of mine, so I’m always working on something. I have lots of ideas that I can’t wait to get in action!

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

No not yet.

Any plans to hit the road?

I currently have no plans for this, but it is something I would love to do in the future.

What else is happening next in Georgie’s world?

I just want to keep working on my craft, and discovering more about myself and my style as an artist. I’m currently finding my feet in London and hope to do some gigs.
