1. Welcome to VENTS, how have you been?

Hey! Firstly, thank you so much for this amazing opportunity to speak with VENTS. I’m feeling great! I wanted my first single ‘scars’ to be received well by my audience and it has been, so now I feel like I can take a second to enjoy the results of my effort….I hope you enjoy my efforts too, haha.

2. Can you talk to us more about your latest single ‘scars’?

Sure! I’d be glad to! So, my single was released on most music platforms on the 22nd of November 2019, however, I’ve been working on it for a while. I had worked on ‘scars’ much longer than any of my other songs as I wanted to find the perfect words to express the emotion of the song to my musical audience, and I finally did. I want to be a voice to those who feel like they don’t have one.

3. Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

The inspiration for my song didn’t come from one specific event, it came from an emotion that everyone struggles with at some point: pain. Whether its physically or emotionally, my song explains how we all have scars and are not to be ashamed of them, instead to be proud that we got through those tough times. It recognizes the fact that we can’t be tied to them forever and at some point, need to be set free. One of my passions is the prevention of teen suicide and my song reflects that we all we go through pain and not to feel alone.

4. Any plans to release a music video for the single?

Yes! my first music video is currently still in post-production. I loved making it, it was a fun experience because I had such a great creative connection with the videographer, and we put a lot of ideas together. The cutest part when filming was that every now and then, other people were coming up and filming me – being filmedwhich was quite funny. That was so cool!

5. How was the recording and writing process?

Collaborating on the writing helped to add some structure to my lyrics and it was interesting to learn and identify what makes a bunch of words and ideas a great song. The recording was fantastic. I live in Dubai but travelled to New York to record in Brooklyn. The studio experience was made to feel so easy. Working in a professional studio was so cool, I was able to introduce my ideas and immediately heard them brought to life. I have been writing song lyrics and melodies for a few years now, and in the last 6 months everything has gelled together. The circumstances were perfect for it to all come together and now I finally have my first EP.

6. Does the new single mean we can expect new material?

Well I’m so glad you asked. It sure does!!

– How is that coming along?

So far, I’ve recorded a total of five songs to complete my EP, where the next four singles will have a staggered release through 2020. I’m very excited to share my upcoming songs with everyone! I am still learning and exploring what my audience likes and the coming songs have some different elements to my music that I hope everyone will like.

7. Any tentative release date or title in mind?

My second single ‘Only One’ is going to be released on the 24th of January 2020, which I am over the moon about. It is a little heavier and has a slightly more ‘Skrillex’ vibe to it. It sounds amazing!

8. Any plans to hit the road?

At the moment I live in Dubai and sing locally at our Ripe Market whenever I can. I’m also looking into festivals that I can now approach for some stage time in the Australia and the US. One of my passions is to sing on stage at Nashville.

9. What else is happening in Zariah world?

‘Zariah world’ huh. Well, in that case, I still have a lot of creative ideas that I want to release through my music. I have lived in 4 different countries and each of them have had different influences. The countries, the people I have met, and the people I have left, have all provided different experiences and all have different stories that can be told.

My musical instrument of choice is now the guitar, so to learn to play that is now on my ‘to-do’ list also. You can never stop learning and this will add a different element to not only me, but my music.

also have a passion for acting and performing and have just recently been approached by an Australian agency with an outlook to progress my acting.

Thanks again VENTS for taking the time to talk with me.
