INTERVIEW: Rowan Grace

Hi Rowan, Welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hello! Thank you for the opportunity! I am doing very well.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “How I want it”?

How I want it is a very special song to me, it came to me at a time when I began searching for who I was and who I wanted to be as an artist and songwriter.

My goal in life is to stay true to who I am, to stay true to the people around me and to stay true to my goals and what I hope to accomplish.

There’s a fine line between people who speak truth into your life and people who just want to tear you down. “How I Want It” was written to lift people up, inspire them to chase their dreams and maybe help them figure out how they want it.

Did any event, in particular, inspire you to write this song?

Over the years I have had parents tell me stories of how their young children have watched my performances and were inspired to start singing and performing. I realized that what I was doing was inspiring young people to take risks and get to work on achieving their dreams. I then realized that it was important to not only inspire but to lead by example, show them that you don’t have to compromise who you are and what you believe in to chase your dreams.

Any plans to release a music video for the single?

Yes, the plans have been executed!

My music video was released November 11th on my YouTube channel.

The video was shot at the Asbury Park Boardwalk in New Jersey.

It was right next to the Stone Pony which hosted some New Jersey artists you might be familiar with, Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi!

How was the recording and writing process?

The writing process was many things all at once. It was challenging, rewarding, frustrating, exciting, but mostly fun! It was a bit of a process given that I live in Rapid City South Dakota and my writing coach was in New Jersey and my Producer was in New York. I would have to say that I enjoy all aspects of writing and recording songs, however my favorite part was getting into the studio and bringing my songs to life.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material?

Yes, two more singles coming your way in 2020!

How’s that coming along?

It’s coming along very well, I’m super excited to share my next single with the world.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

I, in fact, do have a title and release date, drum roll please…My next single is titled Closer and will be released on January 1, 2020.

New Year, new song. It felt appropriate.

Any plans to hit the road?

My initial plans are to put my show together this winter and roll it out this summer at local music festivals and events. I am also planning to live stream a few shows for my fans that aren’t able to make a live performance.

What else is happening next in Rowan world?

Ok here’s just a few things off the top of my head.

Release my third single sometime in the Spring.

Create music videos for singles 2 & 3.

Audition for The Voice.

Write new songs.
