INTERVIEW: Seven Red Lions

1. Welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hello, Thank you Vents for this interview 🙂 we are very happy, our new single Citizen has just been released!

2. Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Citizen”?

Our new single Citizen was released on 30th of November, is a song inspired by life in a big city. We thought about the problems, pressure, stress, and loneliness which sometimes is felt by all. Citizen brings a positive message, with encouragement, hope, and freedom to move forward in everyday life.

3. Did any event, in particular, inspire you to write this song?

Living in a big city like London for many years and sharing all kinds of experiences with so many people from all over the world.

4. Any plans to release a video for the single?

Yes, we are working with London Film Makers for the new video, we already have some ideas that came up… But we can’t share them yet, we can say that we got inspired by the different phases of our journey here in London, and the video will be released early next year.

5. How was the recording and writing process?

Citizen was written in 2013 by David Lion, it was later taken up in 2016 to make the first demo and recorded this year 2019.

The Record of this song was in February 2019 at Cafe Music Studios in London in 2 days. On the 1st day, we recorded drums and bass and 2 day, we recorded guitars, keys, and vocals.

We worked with Mark as producer and Jesus as sound engineers, who are great professionals and have worked with several bands before, they were a precious help guiding us to get a better sound and giving more brightness and quality through various details.

Production: Mark Sutherland and David Lion.

Sound engineer: Jesus Daniel Torres.

Guitarist and vocals: David Lion.

Bass and back vocals: Sara Priegue.

Keyboards: Coronel Christopher.

Drums: Francesco Azzariti.

Lyrics: Sara Priegue and David Lion.

Mixing & Master: Laurent Scharkarckofficial and David Lion.

6. How has Nirvana and The Cure influenced your writing?

Nirvana and The Cure have inspired us by their music, especially their journey as a band and individual musicians… the lyrics, the structure of the songs, the sounds, the effects, the guitars… They have taught us a way to express what we want to be through music.

7. What role does London play in your music?

London has a big role in the process of the creation of our music because it’s a city full of art everywhere represented in many different ways: the Music, the Art, the Events, the Structures, the Arquicteture, the Colors and the mix of cultures. All this is a big inspiration for us.

8. What made you want to spin off this single into a full project?

We are a independent and young band and we are learning in all this process of recording, mixing and realising material, so we find it easy to release this single now as a full project…

9. Can you tell us more about this?

With this new single we are not only created powerful and fresh sound… For the artwork of the single we worked with photographer Sop Rodchenvko (https://www.soprodchenvko. ) so we want to tell real stories about 12 Londoners. Happiness, anger, sorrow, empowerment and more to tell… this images represent their stories of life in London. They will be shared soon as a promotion of Citizen in our social media.

10. Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

We have new songs ready to be recorded, which might be part of our 1st album, but at the moment we are planning to release them as singles.

11. Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Definitely, we will release new material in 2020.

12. Any plans to hit the road?

Right now we are focused on record our new material, but we will be on the road by March 2020, start in Uk and possibly finishing the years in Mexico.

13. What else is happening next in Seven Red Lions’ world?

Planning to record our 1st album, some live sessions and hit the road touring around Europe and Latin America.
