For this release, the British artist partnered up with the man who’s behind Declan McKenna’s hit Brazil and who also worked with Kodaline and Snow Patrol: Max Marlow. While attending neighbouring high schools and having many mutual friends, the two only met years later at university, where Max was a music technician and ONUR a student. Out of this late-blooming friendship and several studio sessions are born a few collaborations, the latest in date being What U Do, which they wrote and produced together. With its blaring brass and chivalrous electric guitar, this laid-back, modern love story sets the mood for an explosive chorus that might inspire your next grand gesture. “The meaning and sentiment is so simple yet so effective. The affect someone has on you can be so profound, and with this song I just really wanted to highlight that. I wanted it to be grand and bold. If you’re going to lay it all on the table for someone, you might as well do it with a lot of conviction”, ONUR points out.
