Normally, this is where I recommend a TV show for you to binge over the weekend. Something to kill a few hours on a Sunday, because the weather is probably bad and TV is great. This week, though, my recommendation is a little different. My suggestion is to just watch a bunch of Star Wars stuff.
Watch the movies, specifically The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and Rogue One. I have my reason for this. This week, Disney+ launched. It is now the home of Star Wars stuff in the streaming world. In particular, they have a new show called The Mandalorian that is the biggest Star Wars show ever. Sorry, The Clone Wars or the Holiday Special. I haven’t seen it, of course, but it evidently takes place between the original trilogy and this current one. Speaking of which, The Rise of Skywalker is coming this December. You’ll want to brush up for that as well.
I am by no means a huge Star Wars fan, especially by the strength of the fervency of some people’s fandom. I like the original trilogy. I don’t like the prequels. I’ve really liked the first two movies of this new trilogy and Rogue One. To some, that makes me a heretic or something. I don’t care. Admittedly, I’ve never seen any of the TV shows. You should maybe still watch them, though. I’ve heard good things about that Clone Wars show. This is the time of year to get yourself ensconced in Star Wars.
So yeah, maybe on Saturday you can sit down and watch those three Star Wars movies. Maybe throw in Solo too, but that one is kind of mediocre. Plus, it’s less relevant to The Mandalorian or Rise of Skywalker. Or maybe watch Return of the Jedi and then The Force Awakens, the bookends for The Mandalorian’s universe. And hey, if you have Disney+, and you can get it figured out, you can actually watch The Mandalorian between it during the weekend. That’s kind of the dream for a Star Wars fan I bet.
Next week I will get back to what I normally do, which means probably recommending some food competition show or an old sitcom or whatever.
