Born and raised in Berlin, 20 year old alternative R&B artist Kean Farrar has released his brand new single ‘Windowshopping’. Listen here
With an undeniable pop appeal ‘Windowshopping’ is a track that stripped down to its essence, manifests smooth guitars, bouncy beats and crisp vocals right where they should be – front and center.
Kean’s lyrics on the other hand take on a more raw and dark theme. Having garnered critical acclaim for his debut single ‘Heartthrob’, a dreamy and soothing track on the topic of alienated intimacy, Farrar takes a unique approach to alternative R&B. Making his music versatile in both style and sound, he reflects common themes of his own upbringing in a city characterised by hedonistic nightlife and historical isolation.
When asked about his new single ‘Windowshopping’, Kean says that it’s really about Berlin and “all the possibilities there are here. Berlin’s really got something. It always has been a showcase in one way or another. There’s so much going on, so many choices. The trouble is, if you keep your nose pressed against the windowfor too long, you can lose perspective and get lost in the distractions. Everybody’s always on the lookout for what to do…when’s the next party? What kind of job do I want? Which relationship?
He puts it simply “Berlin is a place to windowshop for opportunities and ideas. The trouble is, we never commit ourselves to any one thing. It’s too easy to keep it all open.”
