I’ve been so great thank you! I’ve had a very progressive and exciting year!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Elevate”?
‘Elevate’ was predominately written for clubs. I wanted that hard-hitting style bass drop but with 90s/00s vocals and synth stabs! We have had a few delays in the release but I’m so crazy excited for it to drop!
Did any event, in particular, inspire you to write this song?
Mostly just songs I’ve been dropping in my set. I wanted a dance floor heater that I got excited to play out and hoped other DJs would feel the same!
Any plans to release a video for the single?
No plans for a video yet. This all depends on how well the track goes!
How was the recording and writing process?
This track came together pretty fast which most of the good songs usually do! It was written in my studio and I had elements of the track separately – eg the vocals I was sitting on for a while then in one session it all came together. Was very exciting!
What role does Perth play in your music?
When I first started out DJn, Perth was more into bass music like trap, so obviously being booked for clubs, I had to play their style! It made it a bit hard for me to see a clear future in house music but I kept pushing through and in the past year, the house music scene has grown crazy amounts! Perth makes it hard to tour the east coast as well. I think you have to get your project to a certain level before you can start touring! It can suck sometimes but you either move or push through!
How has Zhu and Sofi Tukker influenced your writing?
I love love love how those artists have turned house music into accessible styles! It’s a hard thing to do! But they have nailed it. Elements from Zhu’s songwriting to Sofi Tukker’s jungle percussion has def seeped into my music style!
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Yes of course. We pretty much have 2020 filled up with singles and remixes! Most of them are basically finished 😀 so I am now working on new material and experimenting a lot while I have the free time!
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
For now, just Elevate!
Any plans to hit the road?
Yep, next year!!
What else is happening next in Tina Says’ world?
Last year I begun a video mix series called “Body Control” – it’s a small intimate party at cool locations to record a one hour mix for YouTube! I have 3 on YouTube at the moment and I’m so excited about #4 as this is the first one I will be doing in the courtyard at a club and it’s the first ticket event available to the public. We’ve had a crazy response so far which is awesome! Can’t wait to see it all come together!
