This is a well-known letter “R” brought to us in a new format.
Just a month ago, Volkswagen presented the world with a new global logo – simplified to black and white 2D primitivism. However, the sign for high-performance versions of cars looks voluminous and modern.
In its evolution of logos, Volkswagen company has been constantly moving towards conciseness, although in the 2000s it went down this path, having tried to add some volume to the logo. There were three 3D logos in Volkswagen’s history, and this is where the company decided to stop. At least for now.
As for the 3D “R” logo, which will likely entail the change in the R-Line designation as well, the manufacturer says the following:
“The new company logo is characterized by the pristine line width and a clearly horizontal arrangement featuring dynamic curves. Moreover, the prominent diagonal line serves as a stark contrast, thus underscoring the brand’s overall progressiveness. The elongated R creates a broader, more powerful impression and defines Volkswagen’s commitment to performance and exclusivity.”
According to unconfirmed reports, the new R logo will decorate the new Arteon and Touareg models, although we shouldn’t bet on it. However, it’s quite possible to see the new logo on the Atlas Cross Sport R-Line which will debut on October 11 in the United States.
Volkswagen is one of the world leaders in the automotive industry and the largest car manufacturer in Europe. The Volkswagen logo consists of the company initials – the letter “V” above the letter “W”. The letters complement each other very well in the overall composition. Car logos changed their look several times throughout the history of the brand, but they always comprised letters “V” and “W”. Blue color symbolizes excellence, reliability and class, while white reflects nobility, purity and attractiveness.
The Volkswagen logo is widely known throughout the world and is considered to be one of the most recognizable logos in history. The name of the company may be translated from German as “people’s car”. Given the popularity of the brand, this name is well-deserved.
R-line is an optional package for Volkswagen cars. It is designed to give a car a more sporty appearance and usually includes modified bumpers, enlarged wheel arches, door sills, oval-shaped chrome exhaust tips. R-Line logos are put on the front fenders and sills. In addition, there are special R-Line packages for the interior which usually imply sports seats, special steering wheel, pedals, and a different gear stick.
