SINGLE REVIEW: Married To The Beat by TLove feat. Lilo

DJ TLove (Thiery Valentin Peronet) is considered to be a pioneer in the Belgium House music scene, beginning his career there in 1992. TLove has been a resident DJ for some of the biggest clubs in Ibiza and has played alongside some of the greatest innovators of house music like Bob Sinclair, Eric Morillo and Ron Carroll. He’s just released Married To The Beat, a shimmering, club floor stomper that’s sure to become his next big global smash. Teaming up with vocalist Lilo, Married To The Beat sees TLove fine-tuning his arsenal of sonic delights and melody writing, creating a fresh and powerfully evocative statement of self-empowerment through the magic of music. Lilo provides a sultry vocal that never contains elements of vulnerability yet is super-charged with vitality and engaging sensuality. The melodies soar above the house-style jam with the surrounding ambiences adding yet more layers to the overall sound. The version that’s been released has been remixed by Barcelona producer Shakespeare. As TLove has said about Shakespeare’s contribution to Married To The Beat, ‘He was interested in doing a remix for Married to the Beat, and the answer was an immediate YES! Bringing a deep house feeling to the track and making it more clubby was an easy task, as the two basic elements were a very strong vocal and tasty guitar’. As Tlove has said about his inspiration, ‘I used to listen to a lot of funky disco and afrobeat music and all the time I had in mind, a funky bass sound and an afro melody’, and these influences are certainly on display here, with the rhythmic nuances a big part of the track’s allure. Married To The Beat is a mighty dance track that takes on aspects of global pop, house and funk, and yes, marries them to some blazing hooks performed with sure-fire passion by Lilo.
