Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Wild Love”?
It’s one those songs that took a little while to write. We had the idea for the verse but no chorus, so we just left in sitting around for 8/9 months. I remember the chorus suddenly just coming out nowhere and once we had that, the song basically wrote itself in about an hour.
Lyrically, Wild Love is a song about running away. It’s about being irrational and unpredictable.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Well I took a lot of inspiration from the ideas put forward by Springsteen on the ‘Born To Run’ album. That whole notion of ‘getting away from the pain.’ We are not from New Jersey haha, but I think I found myself relating to the emotional hooks of the record. I kind of see Wild Love as an exploration of a particular emotional landscape.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Yeah, we are just making the final few tweaks to it!
How was the recording and writing process?
Once we found the chorus, it wrote itself really quickly. Similarly, in terms of recording, it was very smooth. Everything just fell into place nicely and we just had a good time making. A lot of joy went into the construction of this track.
What role does Essex play in your music?
I think, unconsciously, the good elements and the rough edges of Essex have probably had an effect on our songs/sound. It’s hard not to be influenced by your surroundings, we all grew up here so you’ve got to factor that in.
Essex has a really diverse and fluent music scene. There are a lot of bands and artists doing interesting things with different styles. I find that quite inspiring, it makes you want to dig deeper into your own sound/ identity.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
We’ve got another song finished and ready in the bag called ‘The Innocent’ and we have nearly finished mixing three other tracks so yeah haha. We can’t wait to get it all out there.
Any tentative release date or title in mind? Any plans to hit the road?
We are definitely in the process of planning on hitting the road again, we love touring and playing live, it’s in our blood. In terms of new music, if I had it my way, I would put something new out next week or next month, but I think it’s probably going to be January (but who knows)
What else is happening next in The Trusted’s world?
We are just about to announce a big hometown show at Chinnerys. So, we are just putting all the gears in place for that. It going to be a special one for sure.
