INTERVIEW: Arik Nelson

Hi Arik Nelson! How are you?

Hey I am doing well.

When/How did you start/get into making music?

My grandpa started teaching me guitar when I was in third grade. I started writing songs when my mom passed away and I felt like that was a great way to get things off my chest and vent. I started writing for the church that I went to and singing all the time there. It was mostly contemporary gospel that I was into until about ninth grade when I started rapping. I was listening to everybody pretty much. My main influences was Andy Mineo, Trip Lee, Russ, and Bruno Mars. It was just amazing how they molded their craft so creatively. It inspired me to start rapping and molding my craft to try and do music full time one day cause of my huge love for it.

What is your greatest inspiration for your music?

My greatest inspiration would have to be the experiences that God has led me through in my life. Without God I wouldn’t have the peace in my heart that I do today. He is the greatest decision I have ever made.

What is the hardest subject you’ve ever written about?

The hardest subject would have to be my mom. She was a big part of my life.

What is the greatest achievement you’ve ever accomplished?

The greatest achievement I’ve ever accomplished would have to be getting engaged to my girlfriend. She has been a big blessing to my life, and my ride or die.

Are you planning on releasing new music soon?

I’m releasing a new song and video on the 22nd of November, and a new project following on the 29th

What is next for you?

The next step is just working on my craft and building my fanbase. I’m not that established yet, but just working on making better music everyday and reaching the masses.
