INTERVIEW: CASCADE

How have you been?

We’ve been great thanks! We have just come back off of our October tour which was definitely the best time on tour we’ve had yet. We feel re-energized and ready for what’s in the pipeline!

Can you talk to us more about your single “Angels path”?

Angels path was one of the first songs we ever wrote. It was before Austen (Guitar) and Chris (Bass) were in the band and came about when Sam (guitar/vocals/songwriter) and Dan (Drums) were jamming acoustically round each others houses about 6 or so years ago so it’s a long time coming this single!

Did any event, in particular, inspire you to write this song?

Sam: I wrote it when I broke up with my girlfriend at the time. The song is kind of about having so much love for someone that you actually hate.

How was the filming process and experience behind the video?

Probably the most laid back and fun experience we have had on a shoot. We shot it with Forgotten Media Group who has done all of our videos to date. It’s always a laugh to work with them. There was a lot of spontaneity involved on the day as we just wanted to be as natural as possible, to look as if we actually enjoyed each other’s company and not so ridged! Plus there was beer involved of course…

How were the recording and writing process?

The writing process happened 5 years ago when Sam and Dan started jamming the tune and it’s pretty much been left unchanged since the start. We wanted to keep it quite direct and raw when we were doing the recording.

How has The Who and Foo Fighters influenced your writing?

Both are from different eras but have the whole stadium rock thing in common. We feel we have both retro and contemporary sound bonded together from our love of 60s rock all the way up to 90s and beyond.

What role does Guildford play in your music?

Guildford holds a special place as it’s our local scene and we had our first sell-out shows there. It is and probably always will be a place we can rely on for a homecoming show when we are touring.

Does the new single mean we can expect any new material – hows that coming along?

Absolutely. We have several tunes lined up for the coming year. Two are ready to go already and we are getting ready to head into the studio to record the rest in January!

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

We are not going to give too much away. But you can expect a new single around April time

Any plans to hit the road?

Definitely. We are currently in the works of at least two different tours next year.

What else is happening in CASCADE’s world?

We are currently waiting to announce some exciting news for the new year. Keep an eye out on our social media pages @cascadetheband for a special announcement soon!
