INTERVIEW: Carnival Club

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Hello! We have all been very well, keeping it together, you know? These past few weeks have been great for us.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “My Lady”?

Of course !! So we recorded “My Lady” down in Wales at Giant Wafer studios, with producers Alex Loring and Tom Andrews. It was an amazing experience down there, being completely isolated from the everyone and everything. Despite being in such beautiful landscape we managed to record the ballsiest single yet: a hard hitting, catchy, I dare to say sexy, punk song. We’re over the moon with it.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

So this song started out (like most of our songs) as a jam that we would originally end the set with that just had a groove that we couldn’t ignore. It’s essentially a dark and twisted, Tim Burton themed love poem.

How was the filming process and experience behind the video?

The idea behind this music video was a gritty ‘day in life’.  Which consisted of walking down dark alley ways and underground tapas bars, meanwhile showing short clips of fans loving the pits, Rock n Roll eh?

What was it like to shoot on a Super 8?

It could be temperamental at times because lighting is a huge problem with super 8. But the film maker Megija Germane absolutely killed it, all editing and filming was done by her. Everything she did just fit perfectly, we recommend her work highly.

What role does Manchester play in your music?

Manchester should play a huge part in anyone’s music. This city continues to push boundaries and reshape the way kids start writing music year after year. Growing up being surrounded by Oasis, 808 state and even the Bee Gees makes you feel like you’re part of something bigger. I mean there isn’t many direct correlations genre wise, but I think that’s the point. By “You are what you is’ as Zappa would say.

Does the new single mean we can expect an album – how’s that coming along?

We’re back in the studio over Christmas to record some more singles. So once that is pinned down then we can start looking towards an album for sure!

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

The next single to be released is a song called “In My Head” which will be released around new year! We can’t say too much about this as of yet. But it’s going to be huge.

Any plans to hit the road?

All shall be revealed in the new year!

What else is happening next in Carnival Club’s world?

In our world we’re focussing on writing some new amazing material to show off. Momentum is key and the songs is where you start, so that’s where our heads are at for the time being. A new music video is being filmed also, as soon as we can talk about it, you will be the first to know!
