Path of Exile is an online game so great that you don’t have to spend a single dime to enjoy it! While there are smatterings of micro-transactions here and there, they are perfectly optional. Most of the time, they are purchased only when players need to for the sake of sheer convenience. There are tons of things that you can spend PoE orbs and PoE currency on, and PoE pets are among them. You can normally see these little tykes strolling about with their owners, and while they might look cute, some of the rarer ones cost a pretty penny. So, are these creatures worth getting?
Find out as delve into all the good, and the bad, aspects of PoE pets!
What Are Path of Exile Pets?
Pets are one of the many micro-transaction items that can be found in Path of Exile. Currently, you can have up to two active pets at a time. If you have more than that, the rest will be stored in your hideout. Path of Exile Pets follow the player/owner but do not participate in battles. Besides that, there are a lot of pets to choose from. Path of Exile’s ever-growing collection of pets vary and each one has its own unique design. If you want the traditional type of pet, there are cats and dogs that you can choose from. But what if you’re looking for something a bit more unconventional? Fear not, because there are even different types of tigers and bigger mammals such as bears and elephants!
You didn’t think that pets in PoE were going to be limited to animals, did you? Non-animal pets are also the norm in Path of Exile. If you’re looking for a much more unique pet, then you have lots of choices to choose from! Manmade constructions like the Blade Sentry and Innocence Sword make for great pets—especially if you prefer minimal interaction.
So What’s Their Purpose?
Pets don’t have a purpose, really. Besides giving you eye candy with their cool-looking appearance and company, they don’t really do much. You won’t feel alone, and having a silent companion is sometimes what makes the game better for some people. Also, if you’re a player who stresses the importance of customization down to a tee, then fine-tuning it with a pet or two could be the proverbial cherry on top.
Players have been clamoring about how it would be cool if pets can fight other pets. While there are no plans since Grinding Gear Games hasn’t said a word about this, having pet battle isn’t a bad idea at all! World of Warcraft, another popular MMORPG game, has already implemented this. Since then, they’ve had a huge boost in their already massive player base thanks to the critters finally having a purpose beyond the cosmetic.
Are Pets worth the Money?
If you’re the type of person that likes novelty items that cost a lot of PoE orbs and PoE currency or if you’re really committed to perfect the aesthetic look of your character, then pets are definitely worth buying. Besides offering companionship, they can leave your friends green with envy thanks to their cuteness. However, if you’re not much of a spender, then we recommend that you refrain from purchasing Path of Exile pets since you may regret it. So, do you see yourself buying a PoE pet in the near future?
