Out last Friday, Pete Philly dropped an entire EP in full. The project is called ‘L I F T’ and is his most personal collection of records that he has made since his debut album.

From Aruba to Amsterdam, Pete Philly is a multilingual hybrid who came to the Netherlands in his youth. His early days of Pete Philly & Perquisite collaborations lead him to being nominated for the MTV EMA’s – and hailed by Talbi Kweli as “Light Years ahead of the game”. Off the back of this success, Pete went on to open shows for artists including James Brown and Kanye West , as well as touring cities, countries & festivals worldwide.

As an emcee, singer, songwriter and producer – Pete draws on his Afro Caribbean roots as well as Funk, Folk and Soul throughout his ‘Lift’ EP; presenting Pete’s unique position in music.

Speaking on the release, Pete says “It took a lot for me to find my way back to that space again where I’m just sharing personal music. So.. I’m deliriously excited to share it. I’ll be presenting my new music and new band at the Melkweg in Amsterdam on October 22nd.
