Doing great! Marina has a cold currently, but otherwise we’re fab.
From all the songs out there, why did you choose to cover EMF’s “Unbelievable”?
It was literally the only cover song we could seem to all agree on after years of back and forth (and it’s also a rad song.)
What was the approach you went after with this track?
We decided we wanted to sludgify, grungify and harmonize the shit out of it.
Was it easy or rather hard to reimagine this song?
It was fairly easy, once we decided the vibe we wanted the cover to have, we were able to play around with re-harmonizing some of the chord changes, adding our own guitar, vocal, and synth melodies, and stacking vocal harmonies.
How was the recording and writing process?
It was fun to do something that was a little more raw and live for us. Our normal process is to really taking our time in piecing ideas together and so it was fun to be a little more spontaneous and add our own sound to an already existing song.
What role does Brooklyn play in your music?
We have a lot of friend bands here that makes playing live way more fun, and there’s also a ton of venues in Brooklyn we can play at which gives us the opportunity to get in front of a lot of different people.
How has Garbage and The Pretenders influenced your writing?
We love those bands a lot! But we also get inspiration from bands all across the board.
Does the new single mean we can expect new material – how’s that coming along?
We’ve released 2 new singles and a music video in the last few months, this will be our third latest single release and our first cover. But we have a bunch of more recordings in the can so be on the look out for em!
Any plans to hit the road?
The road is calling our names, hopefully we’ll be out soon…
What else is happening next in New Myths’ world?
Putting out more music, playing live shows, and kicking some ass. Check out website for upcoming dates 🙂
