Todd Rundgren Explains What Drives Him to be a True Rock N’ Roll Original on ‘Mixtape’ Airing Thursday, Oct. 24

Multi-talented rock superstar Todd Rundgren opens up about his biggest influences and shares stories from his eclectic career on an all-new episode of AXS TV’s MIXTAPE—premiering Thursday, October 24 at 8:30pE/5:30pP.

In this exclusive first look, Rundgren discusses his drive to standout as a true rock n’ roll original in the midst of the highly competitive music industry. “I didn’t like the idea of being compared to other people,” Rundgren explains. “I thought, I have to do something nobody else can do or would do, or else what’s the point?” Giving an in-depth exploration at the thought process of an artist, Rundgren reveals some questions that he believes all musicians must consider at some point, if they hope to continue on in their field. He continues, “If you’re really a musician, you’re constantly struggling with where am I going? … Does it still thrill me to do it? And if not, why am I doing it, or how can I change things so I still get that thrill out of doing it? And I expect the same from my contemporaries.” Watch it here.

MIXTAPE airs every Thursday at 8:30pE/5:30pP, only on AXS TV. Next week, beloved Monkees star Mickey Dolenz shares his personal playlist on October 31. AXS TV’s MIXTAPE in partnership with the leading music streaming service Spotify, provides music fans each week’s custom full playlists from the MIXTAPE telecast and access to the MIXTAPE podcast with additional commentary on Spotify.
