I’ve been good… busy but its all been good. How have you been?
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Happy Life”?
The song is an upbeat, feel good song. The lyrics talk about love and friendships… being happy and having a good time. A remix was released into the clubs across Europe over the Summer and did really well. We’re now releasing the original version in my home… the UK.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
It was actually written by The Lucky Guys, Lucky G and Lucky W as they’re known. We met and we just clicked. They wanted to create a song with a very positive vibe that made people feel good when they listened to it.
How was the filming process and experience behind the video?
Filming the video was amazing. It was at the beginning of Summer and all the people in the video are from my performing arts school, I Got Soul. It was like having a big Summer party and everyone had a really good time.
Who come up with the cool choreography?
The dance routine was put together by Sam and Alex McAvoy who also so happen to have been my dance teachers since I was 4 yrs old. They’ve worked with some massive artists over the years so it was great having them onboard for the video.
What would you call that the most challenging aspect of the shooting?
None of it really… as I say it was done on a nice warm Summers day with all my friends there so it was great… can’t wait to film the next one…
How was the recording and writing process?
The recording was great. I met the guys at Konk Studios in North London to lay down the vocals for the track. The place was incredible… some big artists have recorded there and it was great being part of it all.
What role does the UK play in your music?
I love a lot of the new music coming out of the UK at the moment… I’m a big fan of AJ Tracey and Aitch. Also I’m big fan of artists like Ed Sheeran and Stormzy… they are showing the rest of the world that the UK is still one of the best places for music to be made.
Does the new single mean we can expect any new material – how’s that coming along?
Hopefully there should be something coming up… I’ll let you know.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Watch this space.
Any plans to hit the road?
Nothing as of yet. I would love to get out there and perform live… its a great way to connect and meet new people.
What else is happening next in The Lucky Guys’ world?
At the moment its all about Happy Life… after a week we had hit 25,000 views on youtube and that was with no real publicity. Hopefully as the song takes off you’ll be seeing a lot more of me and The Lucky Guys.
