Chadwick Stokes & The Pintos Release “Blanket on the Moon”

Chadwick Stokes (Dispatch, State Radio) has released another moving and culturally significant track from his upcoming self-titled album with his band The Pintos. “Blanket on the Moon” premiered late last week exclusively with Boston’s NPR affiliate WBUR, and is now available for purchase and streaming on all platforms. CLICK HERE to listen and here to read WBUR’s piece on the song.  The writing in Chadwick Stokes and The Pintos notes intense struggles-personal, ethical, political, or cultural-that have always galvanized Stokes as a listener and artist. The album is set for release November 15, 2019 worldwide via Thirty Tigers. The collection is available for pre-order now – CLICK HERE to purchase.

Told through an intergalactic lens, “Blanket on the Moon” tells the story of an alien mother forced to leave her children on the moon in the hopes that humans will welcome them to earth.”The song’s epic sweep is, indeed, reminiscent of Bowie, or “Wish You Were Here“-era Pink Floyd, ramping up to an explosive climax before retreating. It ends the way it begins – on a melancholic note, tinged with hope,” says WBUR. Influenced by our country’s current immigration crisis and the idea that parents are putting their children in harm’s way with the hope they will make it to the other side. Stokes adds, “they’re putting them next to a railroad track or in the hands of smugglers, just hoping that they make it to the other side and are accepted.”

Chadwick Stokes and The Pintos recently announced their December and January tour dates throughout North America where Mihali (of Twiddle) will be joining the band for select shows.  The tour will make stops in major markets including New YorkLos AngelesSan FranciscoNashvillePhilly, and more.  Chad will also be performing in his hometown of Boston for a special Calling All Crows Benefit show (the 12th Annual!) at House of Blues on December 21st featuring special guests to be announced. Calling All Crows is the social activist organization founded by Stokes and his wife, Sybil. For over 10 years the charity has brought their commitment to hands on service and activism on the road, working with musicians, fans and local nonprofits. Currently, Chad Stokes’ main commitment is to provide venue patrons and staff with up to date harassment policies and training plans – Calling All Crows’ current campaign Here For The Music, combats sexual harassment and assault at music venues and concerts.Tickets are available now – CLICK HERE to purchase.
