Keeping up with our series of premieres, we are joining forces with vireo for the release of his new single “Acorn Tree,” a quirky and overly poppy song that will get you in a good mood on this Monday thanks to its cheerful tone.
About the song, Vireo comments “Acorn Tree is a standout song on the album and might be one of the most poppy songs I’ve ever written. The lyrics grapple with gentrification, displacement and the continuous growth in and around the city of Pittsburgh. Sullen yet slightly humorous observations pair with swirling guitars and cheery piano melodies. “
vireo took shape in the aftermath of a surefire successthat flatlined. After playing 8 years in a rock band that was poised for its big break, Chris Beaulieu called it quits to make music that felt more authentic to his true self. In 2014, a 20-year-old Chris found himself back at his parent’s home in Pittsburgh, PA and got to work.
The resulting homegrown recordings led to vireo, a project that weaves acoustic instrumentation, alternative percussion, and soundscapes together with lyrics based in themes of nature, environment, and emotion. vireo’s music is saturated in Chris’s musings on the natural world; his writing/recording process engages in the ancient task of translating one’s bodily experience of exploration into language.
vireo’s newest project is a sentimental exploration of home, community and wanderlust: leaf heap, vireo’s second full-length album, will be released on Nov 1st.
