Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Justice”?
Yes, it’s a song that I wrote actually a while ago in LA, and always thought it was a special one, I write a lot of songs but still 2/3 years after, when I decided to put together my album and so I was doing the selection of all of my songs, I had no doubt that “Justice” was gonna make it.
Did any event, in particular, inspire you to write this song?
The song talks about long-distance relationships, back then I was in one of those, and I remember it was pretty frustrating, so like I always do I tried to put my emotions in what I love the most which are music and writing songs!
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Yes! I shot a “Live in-studio Version” video in Milan with Saturnino on Bass (he is amazing and the long-time bass player for Jovanotti), Cayenne Noluck and my friend and drummer Andrea Belfiore! The video will be released very soon! Can’t wait.
The single comes off your new album The Edo Ferragamo Project – what’s the story behind the title?
It’s a title I had in mind for a while because for me a big part of music is collaborating, that’s where the word project comes from. I worked on these songs with some really talented people, over the years I learned that ego its something that doesn’t really work in the creative space and it’s always very important to “serve” the music and the songs. For instance, I would write a song and then after I finished it I’d show it to Cayenne Noluck cause I trust his instinct a lot and he would come up with ideas that I would have not thought about it after working on it for so long, and in those 5 minutes something magical would happen and the song became much better, and vice-versa…
How were the recording and writing process?
I produced the album initially with Roberto Baldi, a great Italian producer who lives in NYC, then with the amazing Mike Gazzo in LA, the whole album was produced between my home studio, Roberto’s and Mike’s. it’s really amazing what you can do nowadays with the help of technology you can do so much on your laptop!
Would you call this a departure from your previous musical work?
I feel like I’m on a journey of constant growth, both as an artist and as a man! I’m definitely getting better musicians every day and I know this journey is still very long so I’m not in a huge rush!
What role does Italy play in your music?
Italy is my home country and a wonderful place, definitely very helpful for inspiration. It also helped me a lot as I did the majority of my first tour there last summer!
How did your perspective changed as you move into the states?
I always had the dream of moving to the US to pursue my music career, as there is no better and competitive place than that! I was always chasing that type of “American” sound, so it’s a no brainer that I have to be here to find it! Also, I was able to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston right after high school, which was a solid opportunity for me to come to the states!
What aspect of relationships did you get to explore on this record?
I think the Chorus explains it quite well (hopefully) “Justice” when it’s just-us…
Any plans to hit the road?
Like I mentioned before I just completed a very fun tour this summer, 11 concerts between Italy and Greece, I have a show coming up in NYC at Mercury Lounge, very excited for this one I’m going to showcase the whole album and some other tunes as well. So if you can come by, it’s going to be fun!
What else is happening next in Edo Ferragamo’s world?
A new single with its music video dropping in November and the full album in February! But also my sister Maria Sole is getting married on November 1st and she is the first one between us 4 brothers so it’s going to be pretty epic! I wish her all the best!
Thank you very much for taking time in interviewing me and make please keep following my journey.
